Podiatry-led services for the homeless
Today I’m volunteering for Forgotten Feet as a Foot Health Practitioner at The Camrose Centre: a drop-in centre for homeless or vulnerable people within Basingstoke and Deane. The service is provided by volunteering qualified professionals, and is free of cost for homeless and vulnerable people.
Providing Foot Health Services and collecting donations
Volunteers on our service teams are podiatry-led, carrying their own professional indemnity insurance and practicing within their individual scopes of practice as Podiatrists, Podiatrist Assistants, And Foot Health Practitioners.
In addition to providing foot health services, we also collect donations of any shoes (mainly wintery), socks and clothes.
It was my pleasure to meet with Iain Cooper from Forgotten Feet and to have the opportunity to deliver foot health services to homeless and disadvantaged people in the Basingstoke area.
Founded in 2013 in Worcester, Forgotten Feet provides free podiatry and chiropody foot-health services to those in need and least likely to access such services on a regular basis.
In order to reach the homeless and socially isolated, this service is provided in homeless centers throughout the UK.
